Father Matthew G. Suniga is a priest of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and serves as the Vice Rector and Director of Human Formation at St. Mary’s Seminary.  He was born and raised in Central Texas, and came to Houston as an undergraduate at the University of St. Thomas.

A proud alumnus of St. Mary’s Seminary, Father Suniga was ordained to the priesthood by Cardinal DiNardo on June 2, 2018. 

After serving two years as the Parochial Vicar at St. Theresa Parish in Sugar Land, in 2020 Father Suniga was appointed Priest-Secretary to Cardinal DiNardo. Following his term in Chancery administration, Father Suniga was appointed Vice Rector of St. Mary’s Seminary in July 2022.

In addition to his work at the Seminary, Father Suniga is a member of the Texas Catholic Historical Society.
