Friday at 3pm began our first Lenten procession to the Co-Cathedral. The pilgrimage was inspired as a great symbol of the vocational journey from St. Mary's Seminary to the steps of a Cathedral for ordination. They began with a blessing at the steps of the Seminary Chapel given by the Seminary Rector, Fr. Trung Nguyen. Then the proceeded on their route along the sidewalk of Memorial Drive into downtown and to the Co-Cathedral. They took turns carrying a wooden cross and stoped at intervals to pray the stations.
Along the way they prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, endured some torrential downpours and had some great conversation. Upon arrival to the Co-Cathedral, they prayed Evening Prayer, joined in the parish friday fish fry and returned to the seminary over 5 hours later. The 8 mile pilgrimage was a great experience of camaraderie and participants hope to do it again.
