Preserving the rich and enduring legacy of St. Mary’s Seminary is vital to the future of this great Seminary. An important step in this direction is the formation of the St. Mary’s Seminary Alumni Association. Planning began in July with Msgr. Bill Young, fellow alumnus and pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Houston, giving his input to forming a team to brainstorm an alumni association. The team began meeting in August 2015, and has continued meeting monthly. It was unanimous to take this team from the planning to the implementation stage creating an alumni board. We would like to thank Fr. Jim Courville, Fr. Pat Garrett, Fr. TJ Dolce, Fr. Jude Ezuma, Fr. Eli Lopez, Fr. Eurel Manzano, Sr. Rosalie Karstedt, Meghan Anderson, Charlene O’Shea and Fr. Trung Nguyen, Rector of St. Mary’s Seminary, for their work on this team.
Mission Statement of the Alumni Association
Our mission is to continue the legacy of St. Mary’s Seminary by promoting fraternity among the alumni, fostering the mission of St. Mary’s Seminary and engendering love and pride in the institution.
Goals of the Alumni Association
The Alumni Association will sponsor a breakfast before the ordination of the Galveston–Houston priests on June 4. This will be the first of many events sponsored to promote the bond among priests who are alumni of St. Mary’s.
If you are an alumnus, please consider joining this group of very dedicated priests.
