Pastoral Year Parish: St. Michael the Archangel Church, Houston, TX
My name is Ryan Lambert, and I am a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. I have been in formation for the priesthood a total of 4 out of 7 years. I was born and raised in Houston. I attended St. Thomas More Catholic Church and St. Thomas High School until I moved to Steubenville, Ohio to major in Theology and Catechesis at Franciscan University. I joined the archdiocese immediately after graduating and finished minor seminary in Irving, Texas at the University of Dallas. Once finished, I decided to take some time off before moving forward with discernment. These were blessed years, and I was grateful again to return to the seminary in the fall of 2014. I have been in formation at St. Mary’s Seminary here in Houston, and I am now abundantly blessed to serve St. Michael’s Catholic Church for my pastoral year.
I first felt the calling when I was 15 years old. I was inspired by my pastor who had joined us on a retreat that summer and for the first time thought that perhaps this is what God wanted me to do. I kept the thought in the peripheral, but I never forgot about it until it was time to go to college. It was in college that I made a serious effort to discern the vocation and I have been blessed ever since.
Favorite Scripture: Hebrews 12: 28-29
Therefore, we who are receiving the unshakable kingdom should have gratitude, with which we should offer worship pleasing to God in reverence and awe. For our God is a consuming fire.
